Speaker: Vivek Dave, Harting Innovation Hub
Join members of the Microsystems Technology Laboratories (MTL) community for the next MTL Fall Seminar Series.
Abstract: This presentation will go over the foundational principles of these two popular bodies of thought by presenting a series of practical examples that mainly come from the manufacturing domain. Specific case studies include brazing, welding, machining, and other processes. Also, the associated evolution of analytical methods for data interrogation will be reviewed, culminating in recent developments in edge-level AI and machine learning. Lastly, suggestion for future work will be discussed.

Speaker Bio: Dr. Dave has over 25 years of experience in early-stage development of advanced technologies involving manufacturing, materials and algorithms and has been involved with IIoT and Industry 4.0 since its very beginnings. He is presently the Head of the HARTING Innovation Hub in Cambridge, MA and is focused on de-risking technologies before they go into the formal HARTING product development process. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Science from the California Institute of Technology, a Master’s Degree from MIT in Materials Engineering and a Ph.D. from MIT in Materials Engineering with a minor in Mathematics.
